Nu Rising Community Services is built on the ancestral strength, wisdom, and brilliance that have long guided communities toward healing and transformation. Our work seeks to honour the legacies that taught us real change doesn’t come from outside but starts within us. We bring people together to heal, learn, and lead, to respond to community needs, and to co-create initiatives and sustainable circles of care in the places and people who need them most.
Our Purpose & Vision
Our purpose is to rebuild the village from within by raising its frequency, through local leadership, mobilizing residents, and co-creating initiatives that reflect the needs, values, and lived experiences of our people while generating economic opportunities that invest directly in the neighbourhoods we serve.
We envision self-determined, connected communities where love, safety, and collective responsibility guide everyday life; leadership rises from within; healing is foundational; and every voice is valued.
OUR Origin Story: Founder’s Letter
Dear Community,
Nu Rising began in 2025 with a spiritual calling, an undeniable tap from the ancestors telling me it was time to step into my purpose. They urged me to pay attention to the voices so often ignored; our children/youth carrying trauma, our elders holding unspoken wisdom, our families grieving losses, our loved ones who are incarcerated and the silent pain our community carries every day. They reminded me that our people have always held the wisdom, the strength, and the brilliance needed to transform our communities together.
The vision was solidified the night I heard my own mother’s cry. Her grief echoing through the streets long after the sirens were gone. Her pain, my pain and the countless ones before us became a mandate. It reminded me that violence and the trauma it leaves behind does not end in a moment. It stretches across generations. It disrupts the safety of children. It tears families apart. It revealed how deeply our communities need safety, unity, and care. Needs that cannot be outsourced, ignored, or delayed. That cry called us to build communities where we protect one another, where violence prevention is rooted in collaboration, connection, and care.
Nu Rising exists to answer that call.
To raise the frequency of our communities from fear to love, from survival to purpose, from disconnection to unity. We are returning to our teachings to restore balance by rebuilding from within, healing as a collective, honouring our elders and uplifting youth as emerging leaders.
We stand with those who have been harmed, those who have caused harm, and those who carry the weight of trauma. We create space for healing, accountability, and restoration. We build pathways for opportunity, dignity, and belonging. We welcome our returning citizens back into the village because true transformation requires all of us
This is more than an organization. it is a movement rooted in ancestral wisdom and guided by truth and justice. Through the principles of Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), and Ujima (collective work and responsibility), we are reclaiming the power of the village and restoring what was taken from us.
